It has been a long time since I captured an image of the Sun. Finally it has crept high enough in the sky and is clearing the rose bush easily again, so I thought I would dust down the Lunt scope and remind myself how to operate the kit. I was certainly rusty and it took a few attempts to rig everything up correctly. Conditions were deteriorating with hazy cloud appearing as the Sun sank lower. I managed to capture this image, which shows the active region AR2697, an interesting filament appearing on the upper left oncoming surface and a selection of prominences.
