I rushed home to try and photograph the transit of Mercury which took place in May 2016. I used my 8" telescope and a white light solar filter. Mercury is the small dot just inside the solar disk at nearly the 9 o'clock position. Suddenly the scale of the Solar System takes shape. Unfortunately the sky was increasingly cloudy.
